Strategic Planning Committee Report

After six years of long and steady work, the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) reported to the General Assembly. There were numerous amendments to the Rules of Assembly Operation (RAO) that will change the way future GAs will function. Some thought that there would be significant opposition to the changes because there were so many of them, and because they would so radically change the way GA operated. One vote after another gave strong indication that the GA commissioners were ready to adopt the amendments. I was impressed with the hard work of the SPC, the tone of discussion and debate, and the overwhelming vote. There will be some adjustments and bumps in the next few years, but there is a strong commitment to make these changes. What a joy to note the unity of the commissioners at this GA.
